Accessibility Statement

1. Introduction

Zimbalista Gallery, operated by Zimbalista’s Music Factory (Registered Association), Amuta No. 580637940, places great importance on providing equal, high-quality service to all visitors, including people with disabilities.

This statement describes the actual state of accessibility — both on our website and at the gallery spaces at 36 Shivat Tsiyon St., Tel Aviv–Yafo — including the arrangements currently in place and the limitations we are aware of. We prefer to describe the situation accurately, so that every visitor can plan their visit in advance and know what to expect.

This statement is updated from time to time as changes and improvements are made.

2. Website accessibility

We work to make the gallery website accessible in line with the WCAG guidelines and Israeli Standard SI 5568, aiming for level AA.

What has been done so far:

• Clear navigation structure and links with meaningful text.
• Alternative text (alt text) for images on the site.
• Keyboard navigation.
• Attention to contrast between text and background colours.
• The site is available in Hebrew and English.

Known limitations:

• The site’s accessibility has been checked through internal reviews and automated tools only. A comprehensive review by a certified accessibility consultant has not yet been carried out, and we therefore do not claim full, certified compliance with the standard.
• No dedicated accessibility widget or plug-in is installed on the site.
• Some components or content may not be fully accessible. We would be glad to receive reports of any such issue and to address it.

The site contains no downloadable PDF files and no videos.

3. Getting to the gallery and parking

The gallery is located at 36 Shivat Tsiyon St., Tel Aviv–Yafo, on the ground floor.

• There is no marked disabled parking space on the street near the gallery.
• The gallery has no permanent private parking for visitors.
• The street in front of the entrance is marked red-and-white along the length of the pavement. Parking parallel to the pavement is possible, and there is a point at which the pavement is low enough to be mounted in a wheelchair. There is no formally designed and marked kerb ramp at the site.
• A continuous, paved concrete path leads from the pavement to the entrance, on a gentle slope (up to 8%), passing into an inner courtyard. The path can be negotiated in a wheelchair and has no steps. There is no handrail along it.
• The route to the entrance is clear and not permanently obstructed.

We recommend contacting us in advance (details in Section 8) so that we can assist with arrival and entry.

4. The gallery entrance

• There is no change in level at the entrance — the transition from the outside surface into the space is continuous.
• The entrance opening is approximately 400 cm wide, wider than required for wheelchair access.
• The entrance consists of a double door and a rolling shutter, which open easily and remain open during opening hours.
• There is no bell or intercom at an accessible height for requesting assistance. You are welcome to call us before or upon arrival.

5. Dov Gallery

Dov Gallery is an additional exhibition space, located before the main gallery entrance, on its right-hand side, and open during exhibition periods and on Fridays and Saturdays.

• There is no change in level at all at the entrance to the space.
• The entrance opening is approximately 100 cm wide, above the width required for wheelchair access.
• Entry is through a rolling shutter, and when it is open the passage is clear across the full width of the opening.
• There is no internal connection between Dov Gallery and the main gallery; moving between the two spaces is done via the street, along the route described in Section 3.

6. Inside the gallery spaces

• The floor is smooth and firm.
• Within the gallery space there are two changes in level, of 11.5 cm and 13 cm. A permanent platform lift is installed at each of them, allowing wheelchair access between all parts of the space.
• The narrowest passage in the area open to the public is approximately 100 cm. This width allows a wheelchair to pass, but the manoeuvring space at that point is limited.
• The service counter is 60 cm high and allows service to be provided to a person seated in a wheelchair.
• There is no fixed seating in the exhibition space. A chair can be requested from staff at any time.
• Lighting in the space varies according to the nature of the exhibition on display.
• The works are not accompanied by individual labels. The gallery provides visitors with a printed map of the works in large, clear print, and staff are available to accompany visitors and explain the works.

7. Toilets

The gallery has toilets available to the public, but they are not accessible to wheelchair users: the door opening is narrow and does not allow passage. Beyond that, the toilets are standard and do not include grab bars or adapted manoeuvring space.

We are not aware of accessible public toilets in the immediate vicinity to which visitors could be directed.

The gallery is examining options for improvement on this point.

8. Service accessibility

• Entry with a service animal, including a guide dog, is permitted throughout the gallery.
• Gallery staff are available to assist at any time: accompanying visitors through the space, reading texts aloud, opening doors and explaining the works on display.
• Information about exhibitions and works can be provided in large print or another accessible format, by prior arrangement.
• At events, guided sessions and scheduled meetings, accessibility arrangements can be requested in advance, including reserved seating.
• The gallery does not have an assistive listening system (induction loop).
• Gallery staff have not yet undergone formal training in providing accessible service.

9. Known limitations and ongoing improvement

For the sake of full transparency, these are the limitations we are aware of at present:

• The toilets are not accessible to wheelchair users.
• There is no marked disabled parking near the gallery and no formal kerb ramp.
• Manoeuvring space at the narrowest point in the space is limited.
• There is no assistive listening system.
• Staff have not yet undergone formal accessibility training.
• No opinion has been obtained from a certified accessibility consultant for buildings, infrastructure and environment, and no accessibility declaration has been filed with the licensing authority.
• The website’s accessibility has not yet been reviewed by a certified accessibility consultant.

The gallery continues to examine ways of improving accessibility and invites the public to contact us with any comment, request or difficulty.
